Couldn't Ask For a Better Group

What an excellent beginning to the semester! Throughout our first few weeks we have welcomed Representatives Deshazor, Bolger, and Schuitmaker and the 19th Districts next State Senator Mike Nofs. They have all kept us up to date with statewide issues; most notably the current budget debacle and why we need a Republican Governor in 2010.

As we look forward, we our planning on sending another enthusiastic delegation to CPAC this February, hosting a national voice within the Republican party to come and speak on campus, welcoming gubernatorial candidates, and attending state convention in the spring!

2010 is looking up and I know we will help make a difference in cultivating the comeback.

Bronco Bash

We had another great showing at Bronco Bash this year. An enthusiastic crew worked the table and Western students responded with what looks like a large number of new members! I can't wait for the new year to start this Wednesday at 9pm in the Faculty Dining room of the Bernhard Center.

Looking Forward

We have certainly been busy this summer. With an increase in new members we had a great showing at the Do-Dah parade where we walked along side Cong. Upton and truly showed how much support we have for Fred. Most recently, some of us were able to attend Kalamazoo's Lincoln Day Dinner where we heard wise and encouraging words from candidates for Governor, Secretary of State, and Attorney General followed by the key note speaker...none other than Fred Upton!

With Bronco Bash quickly approaching we hope everyone stops by our table for a quick visit on Friday September 11th.

Updates

Well it has been a while since the last time this was updated and now I am updating it.

So in the past couple of months we have had an overall disappointing election and we have welcomed in a new year.

As far as the election goes I think we have all seen how it played out. All I have to say is I hope President Obama gets this country standing on its feet again. I think that regardless of political affiliation we all need to stand behind our newly elected official.

With this new year it has also brought the beginning of the second half of the CR meetings. In our most recent meeting we talked about which direction we wanted to take our group. We talked about several ideas but the idea of a news-flyer really caught the attention of the group. We discussed names as well as how to improve on past failed attempts. Personally, I really like this idea and I think that it is definitely a feasible idea.

Hopefully others will chime in and offer their ideas on this blog.

Until next time.
Ken
